Charles Bradley - No Time For Dreaming
last year were able to agree actually all kind of soul-affine people on the album by Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - and rightly so. Now this is the male counterpart, structural & quality.
Charles Bradley is like Sharon Jones no longer young (born 1948) and has more than a bumpy career as a soul singer behind him - despite the incredibly deep, weathered, rough, raucous and deeply emotional voice that at times like that of the birth separate twin brother of James Brown sound.
Fortunately, he has now ended with the perfect label for its timeless sound, for his debut album (!) Will deservedly at Dunham, the subdivision of Daptone, the us has indeed been the terrific album of the Menahan Street Band brought. And is now playing for Bradley - and how. Ultimately, these are the same old New York Allstars, which alternate between Dap-Kings, Budos Band, Antibalas and El Michels Affair gaily, the key people are here, but guitarist and producer Thomas Brennecke and Dap-Kings drummer Homer Stein Weiss, Bradley a very beautiful sound conjure: incredibly warm and transparent, authentic and definitely retro-analogue, with horns, even via the CD directly as played over his shoulder blades.

great, too: of course Bradley is a poignant balladeurs first order, but it can also (carefully) up-tempo and even really funky, thus completing the circle then closes again to James Brown. Yes, this magnificent album can be measured only at the very biggest names. As with Sharon Jones last year, applies here: Classic Soul, you can not do better today.
