Spoonful # 40 - Buzz Saw Twist
make what are they doing? Where might wonder so many. Mixtapes, would I answer, laying the foundation for a proper dance party. When we (correct me if I am wrong) before it began almost 4 years, I did not think that we go on for years just like that. And above all, without signs of wear, I think, but actually even better than the beginning ...
For the novices: The starting point was an eclectic, wildly rocking DJ set by Michael and brother Patrick Sheehy McCarthy at the after party at City pitcher Beverley, after a fun day at the Orange Blossom Special. While I was forever afterwards on various mix CDs with the unique sound of the brothers waited brew, they began Decksharks Joe, K-groove and R-man (plus the virtually present Chrispop) to compile in the spirit of the set. Spoonful was born.
The first six CDs were still in a metal box with a thick booklet, then appeared with a few exceptions, only double CD single CD. Often the 80-minute CD divided by 4, so that everyone had to deliver compilant hot 20 minutes, the quality was certainly beneficial. In most cases, it was stylistically right across the universe Spoonful, 60s soul, early radio to blues, Rhythm & Blues, and a few Leftfield Countryabstechern and Jamaican offerings. But from time to time ideas were constructed, such as Skank Baby Skank (two ska / rocksteady / early reggae volume), Shake Pelvis Shake (the Elvis songs, can replace that one), two Mambo R & B hybrids, a garage punk and two special rescue CDs that contain the hits that you can place the party acceleration, without shame must.
And now we are at # 40 (Buzz Saw Twist) and tomorrow when I report for over # 41 (Mo 'Taters!). At Buzz Saw Twist (# 40) factory sparkled Spoonful inventor Patrick (Nina Simone, Golden Gate Quartet, Davy Jones, etc.), ex-funkateer K-Nut (Joe Tex, Bunker Hill, Little Sylvia etc.), game-Styler Joe (Diplomats Of Solid Sound, Chuck Berry, Cliff Richard, etc.) and yours truly with a pretty flawless New Breed-20-minute film (Faye Adams , Lulu Reed & Freddy King, Willie Jones, etc.)
Spoonful. Still going strong. (R-man)
